For fire resistance, both the frame and glass must be fire resistant. Any fire resistance for glass quoted is dependant on it being installed in a fire resistant frame of at least the same rating.

A variety of glass products are available for fire resistance. Wired glass is a specialist product that provides an effective barrier to smoke and hot gases. Fully laminated products are available offering even greater integrity values while maximizing the available levels of natural light and visibility.

High grade ceramic heat resistant glazing material, that has the appearance of standard glass, is also available. The most common applications are its uses as vision windows in wood burning stoves and fireplaces.
